Happy List # 2
Hello Darlings! Welcome to Happy List Friday (I know it is Sunday I was hit with an awful combination of bronchitis + food poisoning which postponed this post.) If you missed my post last week, my weekly Happy List is a response to the Happy Book Mail-Around I am participating in. Here are the things that are making me happy this week:
- The book Tranquilista. I managed to pick up a copy at my local book store yesterday and fell madly in love with the book. Much like Kimberly Wilson’s first book Hip Tranquil Chick, this will be a book that I frequently read and highlight in pink.
- Volunteering for the local rape crisis centre. The responses to my post: The Stories That Define Us made me realize that I have a voice and that I have the ability to speak up. My survivor spark in burning brightly and it has made me want to give back to other survivors. I have decided to take the brave leap and do the rape crisis centre training.
- The rest in no particular order: Watching Audrey Hepburn movies; Reading Pablo Neruda poetry; blood oranges; bright and sunny winter days with snow covering the ground; making delicious home cooked meals; learning how to make red velvet cupcakes; corresponding with readers of this blog; wearing lace; getting closer and closer to discovering my Style Statement; Lush Sex Bomb; My new Coach purse; making new spinach + fruit combinations with my Magic Bullet; spring anticipation; tweaking my morning and evening routines; decluttering; saving money by not eating fast food and putting it in a splurge fund; people watching at Starbuck’s; Searching for the perfect green tea; Lincoln Park After Dark OPI nail polish; being able to wear my hair in a ponytail; Gala Darling’s Radical Self Love posts; attending my first social work class; making time for self-work; winter runs; debating which organization to choose for my social work placement & playing really loud inspirational music in the morning.
What is making you lovelies happy this week?

Hi,
I am so glad you are feeling better. What a wonderful list you shared with us. People watching at Starbucks is something that I enjoyed this week as well. It is amazing how the simplest things can make us happy once we take a moment to realize it. Have a great week.

Well I for one am so happy to know you! Your new blog-platform is powerful stuff, I’ve been getting caught up on earlier posts I hadn’t seen. I still feel “in the closet” regarding my own childhood “story” because I have no memory of abuse, yet every aspect of my life has been touched by symptoms/feelings/issues that are common amongst abuse survivors.. (so you see, my story is a story WITHOUT a story.. )
Thanks for pointing me to Gala’s posts, I used to follow her blog more closely and I am not sure why I stopped.
You’ve just helped me add some more self-loving rituals to my list — purple nailpolish has now officially moved up the list.

I’ll have you know I had a very revelaing comment to post, and my FF crash and it is lost. I am slightly superstitious so I am going to leave that part out.. but I wanted to say that I am very happy to know you and I love the openness of your new blog setup — lots of really good, self-nurturing info for non-survivors and survivors alike.
And now I have to bump purple nail polish much higher up on my self-indulgence list.

Ha! Not to spam your page here but I now see that my previous comment posted all by itself! >:D Some things were just meant to be.

I love red velvet cake – my daughter chose that for her wedding cake last year – it was super!
Love the list, and am so glad you are finding ways to take care of yourself. And I’m so impressed that you are taking the training for the rape crisis center. That’s such important work!
Glad you’re feeling better – that was a double whammy, for sure!
